I missed most of the Super Bowl because my TV melted. I watched all the ads today online. The CareerBuilder “I work with monkeys” spots where my favorites… but I’m a partial. I’m damn proud to say I designed their logo. I figured Lloyd would be the first with Super Bowl creative. I was psyched to see my identity in multi-million spots.
So how's that residuals check, oh wait... You should have taken a picture of it and then delivered it to them, that way you could be making some bank.
Hey-take a look at the TigerDirect.com logo on the bottom of the ad on page 73 of the current issue of Business 2.0. I would never have noticed, except after I read your little brag piece here, (IN YOUR FACE, DAVE!) I hopped on the subway, and was reading through it--I couldn't help but notice the similarites. Invert the colors, and pick font that is just barely--if at all--different.
Their website has a totally different logo, so I don't think that the good folks at careerbuilder, or studio2f have a real complaint, but keep your eyes on them--they may become the next "Matt and Meg"
not quite the same typeface.
We generated thousands of logo directions for them. And I mean thousands. I had an outstanding junior designer Johnny Lim that worked with me. As always the client pushes for something the agency doesn't quite want.
My favorite had the i as a very stylized (unemployeed) person. That ended morphing into the orange "head" dot on the "i" in the final we produced.
And the difference with Dave is, when his creative makes it to a super bowl spot, he will have spent months on location with supermodels/swedish bikini teams and the spot will be all his.
The kicker is that Dave drinks more Bud than he does Sprite. The years of product research he's put into Anheuser-Busch, he should be doing Bud ads.
